My son’s driver license was due to expire April 11, 2018. He went into the Hilo DMV office to renew but he had all necessary pieces of information except proof of his P.O. Box.. Before he could return with that proof he was injured in a falling accident and laid up for weeks ..Yesterday I drove him to the DMV, he took and passed the written test but was told he must wait 6 weeks to take the driving test before he will be given a new license. He is 50 years old and has been driving since he was 16 with no accidents.. I would like to know what is the problem with the DMV that they can not provide timely service to people who need and are required to have a driver license to conduct necessary every day activities? Short staffed? What is wrong?
